Fiduciary Advice to Investment Trusts and Non-Profit Boards

As in-house counsel to a $2 billion public pension fund, as a manager at an institutional investment corporation, and as an advisor to non-profits, Stephanie has sat at the table with executive management and trustee boards to make and inform sensitive policy decisions.

Representative Matters

  • Managed investment clients’ investment policies to incorporate new investments, and to insure fund compliance with policies, laws and regulations.
  • Worked directly with City executive management, Pension Board and labour to insure plan amendments were implemented necessary for plan tax qualification
  • Directed litigation policy and oversaw outside counsel in case against pension plan and trustees, achieving winning verdict from state supreme court. 
  • Worked with clients to develop and advise on policy regarding delicate topics including pension reform initiatives and referenda, benefits, labor, occupational safety and public records issues.
  • Spearheaded plan and City response to outside campaign to eliminate pension plan.
  • Advised non-profit board on fiduciary duties in relation to a potential settlement.
  • Reviewed and revised non-profit bylaws for compliance with legislation.
  • Reviewed and revised employment policies for compliance with new regulations.
